Jorge Murillo is a singer, guitarist and song writer, well known in Nicaragua for his meditative worship music. He has performed widely in his native Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras and the United States where he now lives. Jorge was a founder member of Nuevas Esperanzas when the organisation was established in 2005 and continued to work for the organisation until 2009, coordinating the social aspects of the community development work, encouraging churches to participate in social action and promoting ecumenical cooperation. Jorge is joined on the songs below by two members of the Nuevas Esperanzas team, Andrew Longley and Leonardo Zapata. Somos Nuevas Esperanzas was written for the 2008 film Churches in Hot Water. The plaintive trumpet and guitar music from Por tus llagas is featured in the film Storm in a Coffee Cup.

John Longley is a pianist and composer with wide-ranging musical interests. He studied with Clifford Benson, and as an undergraduate participated vigorously in the musical scene at Cambridge University. He is a lecturer in informatics at the University of Edinburgh and alongside his teaching commitments he performs regularly in the Edinburgh area. He visited Nicaragua in 2007, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in León with the Camerata Bach in a concert to promote the work of Nuevas Esperanzas. His virtuoso arrangement of La Mora Limpia by the Nicaraguan composer Justo Santos was performed for the first time at this concert. His music is featured on the Mountain Rain film, including a performance of Flight of the Bumble Bee to accompany footage of beekeeping.
